Hello!

My name is Ashley Causey,

I am a board certified speech-language pathologist. I graduated from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) in 2008, and received my Masters from Old Dominion University in 2011.

Over the last 12 years, I have provided therapy services at the Children’s Hospital of King’s Daughters and in the Hampton Roads school system. I have administered the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2) over the past 5 years and completed the advanced course. I have training in the Wilson Reading program, which uses the Orton-Gillingham approach (the gold standard for children with Dyslexia). I am dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies and has recently completed the Meaningful Speech training for gestalt language processing.

As a mother of  twin girls and a little boy, I have the passion needed to help children and families reach their speech goals. I am an active member of the community and spearheaded a project to get 11 AAC communication boards in Virginia Beach parks and recreation centers.

I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones!

Hello!

My name is Mary Lee Neubeck,

I am a board certified speech-language pathologist. I was born and raised in Virginia Beach. I was drawn back to the beach after graduating from the University of Virginia (Wahoowa!), where I received my Bachelors of Science in 2010 and my Masters in 2012.

Over the past 11 years, I have provided speech therapy services at the Children’s Hospital of King’s Daughters. I have been a member of the Craniofacial Team at CHKD, where I specialized in assessing and treating children with cleft lip/palate and Velopharyngeal Insufficiency (VPI). I administered the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2) and have completed the advanced course. I have training in the Wilson Reading program, which uses the Orton-Gillingham approach, and enjoy providing literacy intervention. In addition, I have participated in evaluating and trialing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices for children and adults in our community. I have ample experience providing telehealth speech therapy services. I truly enjoy collaborating with clients, families, and other professionals to help the children in our community achieve their functional communication goals!

When I’m not working, you can find me spending time with my family. I am the proud mom of a precious little boy and one sweet goldendoodle. I love to be outside and near the water, whether it be the beach, the river, or the lake!

Hello!

My name is Stacey Shepard,

I am a board certified speech-language pathologist. I graduated from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) in 1999 and received my Masters from Wichita State University in 2001.

Over the past 23 years, I have lived all over the U.S. and the world with my active duty husband, to include 7 states and Germany. This has given me the unique opportunity to provide therapy with children in pediatric clinics, public and private schools, home visits through early intervention, as well as a children's hospital. I have extensive experience assessing and treating speech sound disorders, early language development in children age birth to three, and have recently completed the Meaningful Speech training for gestalt language processing. I have an interest in childhood apraxia of speech and am currently working to complete the Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing course (DTTC). I love building relationships with children and their families as well as collaborating with other professionals to maximize overall outcomes for each child.

I am a proud military spouse and mother of two active teenage boys. When I'm not working, you can find me spending time with my family and our sweet chocolate lab. I love traveling, cheering on my boys in their track and cross country races, skiing, hiking, camping and spending time outdoors.

Hello!

My name is Lynn Welsh,

I serve as the Office Manager at Speech at the Beach. In 2017, my husband and I relocated from Richmond to Virginia Beach to support his entrepreneurial endeavors. Since then, we've found immense joy in calling Virginia Beach our home. With two kids, a son and a daughter, born just fifteen months apart, I'm well acquainted with the whirlwind of family life!

My connection with Ashley began in 2021 when my son required speech therapy. Witnessing his remarkable progress throughout the year underscored for me the transformative impact of speech therapy on both a child and their family. Consequently, when I decided to return to work, reaching out to Ashley felt like a natural choice. I'm delighted to be the friendly voice on the other end of the phone, assisting you through your speech therapy journey!
